Coach Aziz Ndiaye will play in the first league with AB Contern/Luxembourg next season

Zigui has decided to join AB Contern for the upcoming season, where he can have an impact with his abilities to score, defend, rebound and block a lot of shots. We asked him about his journey so far:

1. When did you start playing basketball?

I started playing basketball when I was 13 years old at As Bopp basket club and Dieda basketball academy. Both clubs were in Dakar, Senegal where I’m originally from.

2. How long have you been playing in Luxembourg?

I came to Luxembourg in 2015 to play basketball so it’s been almost 7 years.

3. What are your team goals for next season?What are your personal goals for next season? Or in the future?

My goals for the next season are to play in the playoffs and reach all the way to the FLBB cup final.

4. How hard were the steps to arrive to play first league next season?

To be honest, I think it was very hard to get where I am now. It took a lot of hard work and every day practices. It all started with the academy LBBA, then National 3 with Kehlen, then National 3 with Wiltz. We moved up to National 2 with Wiltz and played there also. After that, I got the chance to play National 2 with Bascharage for two seasons. After having played at all these clubs, now I finally get to play in the first league with AB Contern. I'm really excited to play in first league with AB Contern.

5.How long have you been coaching? What do you like in coaching overall and at VIBBALL?

I started coaching youth teams in Wiltz, than in Bascharage. I have been coaching at VIBBALL since 2020. First of all, I feel lucky to be part of the VIBBALL coaches. My journey to get to VIBBALL started when I was at the LBBA academy. I had two teammates, both playing for coach Ildiko in Wiltz and they were promoted to the National 2. She wanted me to play for her team so I decided to play in Wiltz. During that time I started to learn coaching the little kids with the help of coach Ildiko. When VIBBALL club was founded I was happy to join the coaching staff in Echternach. I like to work with kids and I'm happy that I can be part of this evolution of the Club.

6.What is your advice for our VIBBALL kids to get to where you are now?

I believe they’re so lucky to have Ronny and Ildiko, both of them always there for them. I have rarely seen a club in Luxembourg that cares so much about the kids. So my advice for them is to go on practicing , to be open to learn every day something new and they will never regret it.
